AIM

This short intensive course is designed for students and business professionals who have a High Intermediate level of Spanish and are interested in deepening their knowledge in areas of Spanish business and law. This course is officially recognized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Madrid.

The objective of the course is to enable students to communicate in everyday business and legal situations. Current issues and commercial institutions in Spain are examined to provide a global view of Spain today. For a comprehensive immersion program, in class instruction is combined with study trips to places such as the Spanish Stock Market and Chamber of Commerce.

DURATION & CLASS SIZE

The course is 4 weeks long. Offered all year long with the course starting every 1st Monday of the month. See specified dates in the Course Calendar.

For accelerated learning, our classes are specifically reduced to an average of 5 per class (maximum of 10). This ensures that students have opportunity to actively participate in class and learn what is being taught at a rapid rate.

REQUIREMENTS

Students are expected to be able to express themselves clearly in everyday situations. They must have at least a High Intermediate level of Spanish. Participants must be a minimum age of 16 years old. No other academic requirements are needed.

CURRICULUM

There are 25 classes per week scheduled as follows:
10 Spanish language lessons per week
10 Business lessons per week
5 Spanish Culture classes per week

Curriculum focuses on building vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension and writing skills. Exercises include presentations, reports and the analysis of business newspapers (articles). Other commercial institutions and issues affecting Spain today such as insurance companies, legal issues and labor law are studied.

The course examines in detail a total of 10 leading issues of Spanish business world today. Students are taught specific business vocabulary and provided information dealing with the economic situation in Spain, Europe and Latin America.

Flexibility in course design enables teachers to take into account each student's special needs by providing additional materials and assistance according to particular areas of interest.

At the end of the program, participants may choose to take the Spanish Chamber of Commerce examination in our school.

EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES

To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, cultural and social activities and guided excursions are provided free of charge in the Total Program with admission and transportation included at no additional cost. These activities and excursions offer participants a deeper appreciation of Spain's rich and varied culture and traditions. The program and frequency of social and cultural activities held are varied and may include watching Flamenco performances, fiestas, guided visits to cultural and historical sites, museums, monuments, concerts, tapas parties and more. Overnight excursions to nearby cities are available at additional cost.

TEACHERS & TEACHING MATERIALS

Highly qualified and experienced teachers, all of them holders of a degree in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and additional degrees in specific areas of their teaching such as Law and Business. Teaching materials are selected from a variety of sources including newspaper articles, interviews, videos advertisements, logos and sample business letters.

CERTIFICATE

Students completing this course successfully will be granted a diploma, which certifies the type of course, the amount of hours studied, and the achieved level of proficiency. Students will also be provided with a report card, which includes a detailed account of the student's progress according to the specific linguistic skills.

ACCOMMODATION

To cater for individual needs, a range of accommodation options located close to school is offered: Host Family, Student Residence, Shared Flats, Private Apartment or Hotel. Participants who have enrolled in the program are given details of the accommodation pre-departure. These include a description of the accommodation, the address, and the location in relation to the school.
